About

Volunteer for Northern Spark June 9–10, 2012

Want to help make Northern Spark 2012 happen? We are looking for energetic individuals to lend a hand!

Easy and fun, we work hard to make sure you have all the information you need to easily complete your volunteer shift and have a great experience, too. As a volunteer, you will receive a free t-shirt and a chance to win some fabulous prizes. The more you volunteer, the higher the value of prize you are eligible to win!

Shifts are scheduled in three-hour time-slots from 8 pm – 5:30 am, with additional help needed for cleanup on Sunday, June 10 following the festival.

Festival Volunteer Roles

Over one hundred volunteers are needed to make the festival happen. Here’s how you can get involved:

Info Tents
Provide information about the activities in your zone to festival goers. Info Tents will serve as check points for volunteers stationed in each zone. Sign up.

Survey Seekers
Talk to the public and collect feedback about their festival experience. Sign up.

Smart City Walker
City Walkers are stationed across Minneapolis in high-traffic festival zones. As a City Walker, you are responsible for being present and available to deliver on-site information to festival goers about schedules and area events and give directions, and to distribute programs to festival goers. Sign up.

Clean-up Crew
Not a night owl but wish you could still be a part of the action? Chip in on Sunday morning by helping to remove festival signage, pick-up of festival remnants, and help make sure all Northern Spark supplies are collected, organized, and packed away for next year. Sign up.

Other Volunteer Opportunities

Pre-Festival Outreach
We need fantastic volunteers to help us spread the word at the May Day festival in Powderhorn Park on Sunday May 6. Sign up on the volunteer mailing list to receive notification about when we are looking for help.

Office Help
Help kick off festival activities in mid-May when we’ll need some extra help distributing our Kickstarter rewards. Sign up on the volunteer mailing list to receive notification about when we are looking for help.

A note about signing up. If you would like to volunteer for more than one shift for one volunteer role, please indicate so in the space provided in the sign up form. If you are interested in volunteering for more than one shift for two or more different roles, please sign up separately for each.

Volunteer with a friend or in a group

Do you have a group of five or more that would like to volunteer together during the festival? Great! We would love to have you! Contact Birdie Freitag for more information and a special group registration form.

The low-down: How volunteering works

Easy and fun, we work hard to make sure that you have all of the information you need to easily complete your volunteer shift and have a great experience, too.

Volunteer Shifts
Shifts are scheduled in three-hour time slots starting at 8:00 pm and ending at 5:30 am and during the day on Sunday to help with festival clean-up.

Orientation
All Northern Spark volunteers are required to attend one of three orientation sessions in late may. Sign up for these when you sign up for your volunteer shifts.

  • Wednesday, May 23, 6 pm – 7:30 pm
  • Saturday, May 26, 10 am – 11:30 am
